Album Cover Art + Another Tune Sneak Peak!

Fading Light

Above is a rough draft of a very contemplative track from the upcoming album. It's a relaxing one, written while staring out into the cold winter from a warm cabin.

What Makes you feel more warm and cozy than this picture?

Ottawa Valley artist Alfred G. Villeneuve was kind enough to let me use this painting of his for my cover art on my upcoming album 'Cabin Speak". In Alfred's words he describes the painting:

"I went to paint in Algonquin, only to realize the extreme cold prevented me from being able to stand the wind and temps for more than a few minutes at a time. So I remembered this cabin and went there. Of course, no was around, so I took the opportunity to split some wood and start a fire in the old oil drum stove. I swept up, split more kindling and firewood for the next time; which warmed me and the place up. So I set up my easel, to give a glimpse into a simple life, the life lived by many of my ancestors in winter. The comfort and security of a wood stove, plenty of wood as ammo against further cold, and a window to gaze out at the bitter, blustering winds that continuously swept through the road way and trails. It was an exquisite respite from life's distractions, which left my very much in a peaceful, happy mood when I departed back into the wind."

New Song Preview!

Click the link below to check out a pre-mix version of a tune off the new album! This one is about those old log homes scattered around the country, falling over, and the owners who have to say bye to them. It's a bit of a :'( But sometimes those ones have to be written. Enjoy!!!

It's been a While...

Good day all!
I'm busy working on yet another recording. This CD/album is called Cabin Speak. It's a collection of stories, woodsy experiences and northern themed tunes living on the edge of Algonquin Park. Stay tuned :)

Here is a video live from my cabin - a song that will be on the new CD. It's dedicated to the kids on reserves up in our northern reaches, in hopes they will hear it and be inspired to reconnect with their culture and improve the state of things in our country/the world.

North Child - Adam Ruzzo

New CD Northwest is out!

It's finally out! Stories and experiences of roadtripping Western and Northern Canada, living in the wilderness/middle of nowhere.

Check out the store section for info on how to buy it :-)

ALSO... There is a new original VIDEO I made for one of the new songs! Check it out in the video section... then like it on youtube and stuff... :-)

My New Home

Lots on the go... a new CD called 'Northwest' that will be out very soon now, and a new home which I've set up shop at. It's not just any home, it's a cozy cabin at the edge of Algonquin Park, at Northern Edge Algonquin, on Kawawaymog Lake.

I'll be here playing for guests as always! Right now there are no guests, so it's quiet, great inspiration for writing. When I'm not working on music I'm helping out with stewardship projects - like working with plants in the greenhouse :-) The days sure are full. I'll keep everyone posted as much as I can, though it's hard to be on a computer out here!

Banjo and Fiddle Session!

A little clip from a recording session for my upcoming CD called Northwest. These two guys rocked! Meet Matt Elwood on banjo and Ben Plotnick on the fiddle :-) Very honoured to have these two as a part of my project.

Happily Dazed & Confused

A whole lotta recording love happening these days. It's not so much the recording that burns you out, it's the editing on the computer. But it's gotta be done. I need to go outside :-/

The new CD Northwest is a step closer to being done, but there's a lot of recording still to happen. Here are some pics from the recent session :-)

The wizard behind the curtain, Mr. John MacLean!
"Uhhh... what's going on John?"

It's all making me a little queezy. Respect to those who do this work on the musicians behalf!

Gettin 'er Done

Hard at work facebooking and youtubing cat videos while surrounded by some of the finest recording gear on earth. I may have also spent 10 hours editing some recently recorded material too! Things are starting to come together for Northwest. And cat videos are sweet.
